The students of RCHS learn in an environment that promotes individualism and experience based education. At RCHS students learn, how to learn and how to lead.
In 2025/2026 RCHS is focused on continuing to provide one of the most rigorous public school academic programs in Virginia while honoring the traditions of this unique school that have made it a success for 49 years. To date over 99% of graduates have gone on to higher education.
Friends of RCHS funded over $140,000 in programs, academic initiatives, and school upgrade projects in 2024/2025. The school receives less than $20,000 a year for instructional funding by RPS and 100% of students qualify for free lunch.
During our annual giving campaign this year we are hoping to double the amount we have raised in the past to meet the needs of students, faculty, and the school in an economy where expenses have increased by 43% in the past three years.
OUR GOAL
Raise $40,000 from November 1st to December 31st, 2025

Friends of RCHS assists with providing meaningful group community service experiences. Annual service learning experiences with indigenous Americans are offered annually. Through this program students visited the Guatemalan Highlands to stay in a Maya Village where they worked alongside families to build indoor stoves, reforested a mountainside, and ran children’s activities.
Students will be traveling to the White Mountain Apache lands in Arizona to assist with sustainable farming and water access, assist with developing land to house a wellness recovery center, and assist with projects around composting.
