MINDFULNESS

Healthy Mind, Healthy Life!

Social Emotional Learning is Transforming Our School

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

The pandemic has been challenging for teachers and students, and while we’ve seen amazing resilience at RCHS, continuing to navigate through these uncertain times can cause both mental and physical fatigue. By practicing mental wellness exercises in class and in the center, teachers and students can benefit with improved mental and physical health, coping skills, and a positive outlook. The center provides a time out space for regrouping for students facing periods of anxiety and stress with the support of a trained professional. Small group programs in movement, mindfulness sits, and group discussions train students in techniques to self regulate, engage in restorative practices, and gain control over destructive thought patterns.

OUr Center

RCHS has always been on the cutting edge academically and now has a model program for mindfulness supported by our center located in the school and a school wide culture around the practice. A special thank you to the West Family and the RCHS Class of 1990 for their generous financial support to make the center possible.
