We are asking for help from organizationS And businessES!

Each year there are high school seniors in Richmond Virginia that have overcome the challenges of their socio-economic situation and beaten the odds to graduate from high school, gotten into college, and are awarded college financial aid packages. While college aid packages may provide tuition, room and board, sadly, many of these students lack additional support for the all-important transition into college life. We have unfortunately seen students make the decision not to attend last minute merely on not feeling prepared to move in. This should never happen.

The class of 2023 has faced so many more challenges than their peers before them. In the current economy families have less disposable income and are struggling to put food on the table.

Sponsor a student or student(s) by:

• Have each member of your team shop and purchase an item toward a student’s dorm needs and put together a dorm kit. The average cost of a dorm kit averages around $350.00

• Request to sponsor a student for which we can provide a first name and the college they will attend so the dorm kit can be personalized.

• Hold an office fundraiser and donate the funds, use them to shop either online (see Amazon Charity Shopping List) or designate team members to shop and put a kit together.

• Purchase or donate gift cards that the nonprofit can use to purchase items.

• Ask your team if they have gently used appliances such as dorm refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, desk lamps, surge bars…

Provide a Technology or Meal Plan Sponsorship

Many students in addition to needing items for the dorm need a personal computer or assistance with the high cost of campus meal plans. Donations for these items will be paid for directly by the nonprofit to ensure the funds go toward where they were intended.
